Veteran fast bowler Siddarth Kaul, known for his consistency and grit, has announced his retirement from Indian cricket after a 17-year career. Kaul, 34, took to Instagram to share the emotional announcement, reflecting on his journey from playing cricket in Punjab’s fields to earning his India Cap Number 75 (T20I) and Cap Number 221 (ODI) in 2018.
Kaul’s career highlights include being part of the victorious 2008 Under-19 World Cup team, led by Virat Kohli. He also made a mark in domestic cricket, excelling in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023-24, where he was Punjab’s leading wicket-taker with 16 wickets in 10 games. He played a vital role in Punjab’s campaigns, including last year’s Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he topped the wicket charts.
Kaul featured in 55 IPL games, earning recognition for his stellar performances with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 2017 and 2018 seasons. His success in the IPL earned him a spot in India’s squad for the 2018 tour of the UK and the Asia Cup, where he contributed to India’s victory. In his professional career, Kaul bagged 297 wickets in 88 first-class games at an average of 26.77.
Announcing his retirement, Kaul said, “The time has now come to call time on my career in India and announce my retirement.”
